Who is this qualification for?

This qualification is aimed at individuals who are working in adult social care in England. It forms the competency component of the Intermediate Apprenticeship for Health and Social Care: adult social care general pathway or can also be delivered on a stand-alone basis. Learners are able to take one of 3 pathways in this qualification:

  • Generic
  • Dementia
  • Learning Disabilities.

How long will it take?

To complete this qualification learner should expect to undertake between 319 and 396 hours of learning, depending on unit choices.

These include introduction to communication in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings, personal development in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings, equality and inclusion in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings, safeguarding and protection in health and social care, the role of the health and social care worker and handling information in health and social care settings.
